HB 575 would prohibit abortion in Montana of a viable child unless the mother's life is at stake. "Viability" means the ability of a fetus to live outside the mother's womb, even if with life support, and is determined with the aid of an ultrasound.

This bill has been passed by both houses and will soon be on it's way to the Governor to be signed into law. This bill was unnecessary since it is already illegal in Montana to abort a viable fetus.
